The era of the Royal Foundation is officially over. Ten years after Prince William and Prince Harry founded the charitable organization in honor of their late mother, Princess Diana, the siblings are parting ways and doing their own thing with their respective families.
After Prince William married Kate Middleton in 2011, she joined the Royal Foundation as a patron, and Meghan Markle did the same thing when she married Prince Harry in 2018. For a brief time, it was The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and the royal foursome had their philanthropic efforts in sync. But, that is now a thing of the past.

Harry and Meghan announced earlier this year that they were leaving the foundation, and William and Kate have officially renamed the organization The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, erasing Harry and Meghan’s names from the charity.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now in the process of establishing their own charitable foundation, completing the split that started weeks ago.
At first, it appeared that the rumors of a feud between the foursome were a bit exaggerated. But, recent events make it seem like there really is a fracture in the relationship.
In recent weeks, the British media has accused Harry and Meghan of being hypocrites because they have been flying around in private jets while encouraging people to take climate change seriously and make smart choices concerning their impact on the environment.
In the middle of Harry and Meghan’s hypocrisy scandal, Prince William and Kate Middleton have opted to take two commercial flights with their three children while traveling to and from Balmoral Castle in Scotland. To many royal reporters and fans, that move has come across as William and Kate throwing some serious shade at Harry and Meghan.

Not only is a commercial flight more environmentally friendly than one on a private jet, but it is much more economical. According to The Sun, it cost the family of five (plus their nanny and security guard) less than $500 to travel from Aberdeen, Scotland to Norwich Airport in England.

In contrast, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s flight to Nice, France on a 12-seater Cessna generated seven times the emissions per person compared to a commercial flight. And, the plane also costs nearly $25,000 to hire.
