Barcelona legend Rivaldo backs Neymar to leave PSG and snub Real Madrid for two reasons

Paris Saint-Germain remain in negotiations with the Catalan club over the Brazilian potentially making a return to the Nou Camp.

And former Barcelona star Rivaldo believes Neymar will re-join his former side for two reasons.

That means he expects the 27-year-old to snub interest from Real Madrid.

“I can’t see Neymar signing for Real Madrid because the player wants to return to Barcelona and the club seems focused on making that a reality before the transfer deadline,” Rivaldo told Betfair.

“I believe Barcelona won’t let Neymar escape and despite all that happened with him leaving the club a few years ago, he would always be an excellent signing for the team and could quickly convince Blaugrana fans once again with his excellent quality on the pitch.”

Nivaldo also gave his thoughts on a Neymar return to Barcelona earlier this week on Instagram.

“We know everything that happened to @neymarjr,” the former striker said of his countryman.

“His departure from @fcbarcelona was wrong never he should have left one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“But he is eager to come back and assume what he did. May the president of @fcbarcelona and all of the board don’t let @neymarjr go to another club.

“I hope it gets resolves with @psg and he can get back to where he should never have left. Visca Barca.”

Barcelona star Gerard Pique has also urged Neymar to join Real Madrid this summer.

“We know Neymar is a great player, and not only a great player, he is a great team-mate,” Pique told Express Sport while at PokerStars’ European Poker Tour [EPT] in Barcelona.

“I hope he comes here with us to Barcelona but also Real Madrid is another big club.

“It is normal that they are interested in trying to sign him.

“I don’t know man. Let’s see what happens this week.

“Everything is speculation. Let’s see at the end if he arrives here or not.”
