Spider-Man: Tom Holland and Kevin Feige confirm MCU departure? ‘Future will be DIFFERENT’

It’s been a crazy week for Spider-Man fans, with news breaking that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have failed to agree a new deal for the Web-Slinger to continue in the Disney owned MCU. The future of Spider-Man is uncertain and now Tom Holland himself and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige have finally spoken out on the rift. The 23-year-old star appeared on stage at Disney D23 yesterday to promote Pixar movie Onward. Addressing his fans, he said: “Hey everyone, it’s been a crazy week but I want you all to know from the bottom of my heart that I love you 3000.”

But despite the positivity, both Holland and Feige’s comments to Entertainment Weekly backstage at the Expo sound thankful for Spider-Man’s time in the MCU and seem to allude that Sony will indeed be going it alone for the future.

Holland told the outlet: “Basically, we’ve made five great movies.

“It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life.

“Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life.”

Holland continued: “It’s going to be so fun, however, we choose to do it.

“The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

Meanwhile, Feige said: “I’m feeling about Spider-Man gratitude and joy.

“We got to make five films within the MCU with Spider-Man: two standalone films and three with the Avengers.”

The producer added: “It was a dream that I never thought would happen. It was never meant to last forever.

“We knew there was a finite amount of time that we’d be able to do this, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I’ll always be thankful for that.”

That all sounds pretty certain, but who knows, maybe a deal will be struck?

A third Spider-Man solo outing for Tom Holland is expected to release around Summer 2021, although this hasn’t been confirmed.
