Neymar to Barcelona transfer ‘closer than ever’ despite Real Madrid circling

Neymar left Barcelona under a cloud two years ago, choosing to join PSG in a world-record £200million transfer deal.

However, the 27-year-old regrets his decision to leave the Nou Camp and has informed the Ligue 1 titans he would like to make a stunning return to Catalonia this summer.

Neymar has, in recent times, been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid. PSG are desperate to avoid selling to Barcelona, a club with who they have a strained relationship.

Yet journalist Josep Federal, speaking on Spanish TV programme Jugones, has claimed Neymar is ‘closer than ever’ to returning to Barcelona.

However, he has questioned whether or not the deal is the right move from the Catalan giants’ point of view.

“It’s the great illusion. Now everyone wants Neymar,” he said.

“Even many Real Madrid players. Madridistas have already forgiven Neymar and want him despite him wearing the Champions League tattooed on his leg.

“The news is that Barça is closer than ever to sign Ney, and I ask myself several questions: Does Barça Neymar need it? Is it a good idea Coutinho and 100 million for Neymar? Should Madrid get into the auction for ‘Ney’? Should we pay 38 million net? Is it an operation too risky?

“Do you know my opinion about Neymar? If I were president of a club I would not sign him.

“But luckily I am not.”

Barcelona view Neymar as the ticket to Champions League glory.

Should he join, the Brazil international would line up in a stunning attack also consisting of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann.

Barcelona also have Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele on their books at present.

But one – or both – of those stars could be used as part of the Neymar operation.

Meanwhile, Neymar’s sister Rafaella has blasted PSG fans who unfurled banners aimed at the player.

She said on Twitter: “WHAT A DISGUSTING AND DISRESPECTFUL HEAPS OF HUMAN Y’ALL ARE!

“You wish you still had my brother at your team.

“You will win nada without him. F******.”
