Doctor Strange 2 theory: Fans reckon Multiverse of Madness HORROR will visit THIS reality

Last month, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige revealed the MCU Phase 4 slate of movies and Disney Plus shows for the next couple of years. And one of the most highly anticipated is the Sorcerer Supreme’s second solo outing. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the MCU’s first horror and will also feature Scarlet Witch. Fans have been speculating what different realities could be explored in such an ambitious movie and one particularly popular theory is that we’ll see the Marvel Zombies Universe.

Reddit user southernbstrd writes: “It is now officially confirmed that [the] Doctor Strange sequel is going to be MCU’s first horror film.

“And [it’s] also going to explore the multiverse while having Stephen and Wanda fight not one but many villains throughout the movie.

“I believe that these facts combined could let Scott Derrickson (director of the film) introduce the MCU’s very own Marvel Zombies Universe.

“It could be the result of Nightmare (potential and highly rumoured villain) playing with Stephen’s and Wanda’ minds, showing them the fallen world the heroes couldn’t protect.”

DOCTOR STRANGE 2 EASTER EGG IN SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME

They added: “Or maybe, during the events of the movie, Stephen and Wanda are going to have a journey through the different universes and one of their stops is the Zombie world.

“We could see how powerful Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch are without holding back, something that we’ve seen in the original comics but with Magneto, who was fighting against the former heroes of his homeworld.

“Just a small speculation, however I think that it has a high chance of actually being in the movie.”

Fans of Marvel comics will know Marvel Zombies was a five-issue limited series set on alternate Earth-2149, where superheroes are infected and become the undead.

WILL LOKI RETURN IN DOCTOR STRANGE 2?

Written by The Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman, Marvel Zombies spanned a series of related stories.

Certainly, this would tie-in well with the horror angle of Doctor Strange 2 and would please many fans.

But just what other realities could be visited across the MCU multiverse?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is released in UK cinemas on May 7, 2021.
