Nintendo Switch SURPRISE news: More unannounced changes for NEW console

The Nintendo Switch Lite appears to have one or two new features that haven’t been announced by Nintendo.

After months of speculation, Nintendo finally announced plans to release a smaller handheld Switch back in July.

The console – which will be handheld-only – has a September 20 release date, and will launch at a cheaper price point.

With the Switch Lite launch only a month away, Nintendo has given some fans a hands-on look at the new console.

And according to a new video posted by Kevin Kenson, the Switch Lite isn’t just smaller and lighter.

In a video titled “Old vs New Switch: What Nintendo didn’t tell you”, Kenson reveals that the screen has also been given an upgrade.

The Switch Lite is measurably brighter and warmer than the old Switch. The display is said to be warmer in a way that is closer to true white balance, which results in a more accurate image.

After opening the Joy-cons, Kenson also confirms that the analogue sticks are slightly different.

The housing for the analogue sticks are different, and it also uses a different mould.

It’s too early to say if this will turn out to be beneficial, but it’s hoped that this will result in less drift.

Elsewhere, the battery is once again confirmed to last longer on the new model, which is an obvious bonus.

According to Nintendo, the Switch Lite is a console for gamers on the go.

“Nintendo Switch Lite is a compact, lightweight addition to the Nintendo Switch family, with integrated controls,” the company explains.

“Nintendo Switch Lite supports all Nintendo Switch software that can be played in handheld mode.

“It’s great for people who have lots of opportunities to play outside, and also for anyone who wants to play online or local wireless multiplayer with friends or family who already own a flagship Nintendo Switch console.

“As a dedicated handheld gaming device, Nintendo Switch Lite does not support output to a TV.”
