Alex signed up to play with Arsenal at the age of eighth and stayed with the club for most of her career.

She helped the club achievable a domestic double of the FA Women’s Cup and Fa Women’s Premie League.

There’s no doubt she will be hoping to replicate her success on the football pitch on the dancefloor.

The news was announced on Ace’s Radio 1xtra show this morning with the presenter grilling the star on what she expects from the series.

Alex admitted she is most excited about the Argentine Tango due to the “passion and energy” in the routine.

She added she would want to dance to Beyonce on the series, commenting: “If I manage one week to walk out and dance to Beyonce, my life is made.”

“I’m getting to be this super girl every week,” Alex said when thinking about the costumes she’ll get to wear.

Alex joins a long list of stars announced for this year’s series including Jamie Laing and Michelle Visage, who were revealed yesterday.

Will Bayley, Viscountess Emma Weymouth and Mike Bushell are also amongst those who have signed up for the series.

BBC Breakfast presenter Mike is currently the favourite to be booted off the show first with odds of just 25/1 to win.

Meanwhile, YouTube star Saffron Barker is the favourite to win with odds of 7/1 at Ladbrokes.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One later this year.
