Ruth Langsford: 'I would be so spiteful' This Morning star warns husband Eamonn Holmes

Ruth Langsford, 59, and husband Eamonn Holmes, 59, were back presenting This Morning today, where they are stepping in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Before taking calls on a “bitter break-ups” segment, the couple revealed they were doing the phone-in in the wake of Paul Hollywood and Summer Monteys-Fullam’s split.

Eamonn explained: “All of this is to do with the story that has everyone gripped.

“That’s the baker, the Great British Bake Off man, Paul Hollywood.”

He continued: “He’s 53-year-old of age and everyone is outraged he has a girlfriend called Summer, not because she’s called Summer, but because she’s 24.”

“Well he did have a girlfriend,” Ruth interrupted, addressing Paul and Summer’s split.

Eamonn appeared to defend Paul as he joked he might run off with a younger woman.

Turning to his wife, he said: “People like you, huffing and puffing, going ‘well, well’. Say I ran off with a 24-year-old?”

But Ruth wasn’t too concerned as she laughed: “Take him, seriously, he’s yours.”

Urging viewers to call in about their bitter break-ups, Eamonn added: “If you have problems, see I would have a spiteful ex, she would be so spiteful.”

“I would be so spiteful. You wouldn’t want me,” Ruth agreed.

It was reported Summer was the one who had ended the relationship, after Paul wanted her to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

The three-page agreement would have banned the former bar worker from talking about their sex life, his finances and his divorce from wife Alexandra Hollywood.

Solicitor Tom Amlot confirmed that the split was linked to the controversial NDA.

He said: “I asked Summer to sign an NDA as is standard practice in order to protect Paul’s family and their private lives. Summer insisted that she had no intention of selling any stories to the press and declined.

“I think that her refusal to discuss or sign it caused concern, understandably, so it’s not entirely surprising that they have gone their separate ways.”

Yesterday, Paul broke his silence on their split and told his 230,000 Instagram followers to take it all as a “pinch of salt”.

He captioned an image of himself: “Morning all, thank you for your messages I’ve been receiving it means a lot.

“My silence on any matters is not a sign of weakness or agreement of what’s been said this weekend, merely I prefer a quiet life away from my day job! Take what’s read with a pinch of salt and read between the lines.

“I’ve never understood anyone who makes money selling stories and courting the paps… it saddens me thanks again.”
