Leicester fans make brutal claim about Man Utd after Harry Maguire transfer confirmed

Manchester United have today confirmed the signing of Harry Maguire from Leicester City for a world-record fee.

United were forced to part with £80m in order to seal the deal, with Leicester digging in their heels despite lengthy negotiations.

Leicester confirmed that Maguire had been sold to United on Twitter, and wished him luck for the future.

Foxes fans thanked the England centre-back for his hard work at Leicester, and wished him well at United.

But a group of fans responded to the tweet mocking United, claiming that they could still be finishing above them in the Premier League next season.

“Will be fun when he finishes below us, good luck Harry,” said one Leicester fan.

“Spend that money wisely (not much time so it’s hard) and Leicester will finish above United,” added another.

“Sorry that you chose to leave a club on the way up for a faceless corporate entity on the way down – but thank you for your service, and for improving our bank balance,” said a third fan.

Another Twitter user added: “Good business there imo, now go finish the league higher than them.”

“Great deal for all parties. Leicester have enough money to break into the top 6. Good club,” said another.

Other Leicester fans joked that £80m was “daylight robbery”, suggesting that United massively overpaid for Maguire.

“Fair play for getting £80m from them – use that money well,” said one fan.

“Fair play Foxes, squeezed every pound out of that big head,” added another.

“Absolute fantastic business @LCFC. He will be replaced no problem, amazing amount of profit,” said another Leicester fan.

Maguire became the most expensive defender in history after signing for United; surpassing the £75m that Liverpool spent on Virgil van Dijk.

He’ll likely be thrown straight into the starting 11 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, partnering Victor Lindelof.

United have now spent more than £140m this summer, after also signing Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The club bought James for £15m from Swansea City, and Wan-Bissaka for £50m from Crystal Palace.
