Who is Strictly Come Dancing 2019 star Jamie Laing?

Jamie Laing is an English television personality and actor.

He is no stranger to our TV screens, having starred in E4’s Made In Chelsea for the past eight years.

He is best known for starring in the E4 reality series, Made in Chelsea.

Laing joined the show in the second series in 2011 and has been part of the cast ever since.

He is also well known for dating his Made in Chelsea co-stars Frankie Gaff and Tara Keeney.

Speaking to the Loose Women panel, he said: “I’ve known for about a month and I’m not very good at keeping secrets, that was quite tricky. Especially from my mum.”

Laing is 30-years-old and was born in Oxford in 1988 to parents Penny and Nicholas.

He is an heir of Sir Alexander Grant, 1st Baronet, his great-grandfather and the creator of the McVitie’s digestive biscuit.

Away from screens, Laing is the founder and owner of the confectionery company, Candy Kittens.

Laing also has a successful acting career and studied Theatre and Performance at the University of Leeds.

Since appearing in Made in Chelsea, he has starred in the 2016 film Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie and in 2017 he appeared as a doctor in Hollyoaks.

Laing has also had roles in Murder in Successville, Celebrity Hunted and Drunk History.

He also appears regularly on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch and has even sat in as a presenter on occasion.

In an official statement, Laing said: “I am beyond thrilled to be asked to be on Strictly, the only person potentially more thrilled is my mother. I have finally become the son she hoped for!”

Laing took part in Famous and Fighting Crime where he joined the police force and helped them tackle crime.

He also has his own podcast called Private Parts with Made in Chelsea co-star Francis Boulle.

To have Laing on the show, the BBC has moved away from its refusal to have reality stars on Strictly Come Dancing.

An unnamed source told The Sun newspaper: “They said previously that low-rent reality stars like Jamie would not be allowed on the show but things now seem to have changed.

Does Jamie Laing have any dancing experience?

Yes, Jamie Laing does have some dancing experience. However, he is not in any way a professional.

Having studied Theatre and Performance at university, there is no doubt he knows how to move.

Speaking on the Loose Women panel, he said: “I think I’ve got a little bit of rhythm.

He added: “I went to Leeds University and studied theatre and performance and for the first year I had to do contemporary dance.”

Jamie’s professional dance partner on the show has not yet been revealed.

The dancing couples will not be unveiled until the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 launch show at the end of August.
