Idris Elba’s Brixton was the main villain in Hobbs and Shaw, but he ultimately answered to a bigger baddie called The Director, who heads up Eteon. Audiences never saw his face and his voice was distorted, while at the end of the movie they teased a history with Hobbs. This implies The Director is a character we’ve met before in the Fast and Furious franchise. So just who could The Director really be?
But another popular theory is that Ryan Reynolds’ Locke is The Director. After all, he certainly has a connection to Hobbs’ past.
A fan theory on Reddit points out that both Thomas Hobbes and John Locke were 17th-century philosophers of human nature.
While in the film Locke told Hobbs that Brixton stabbed a man with a brick, something that’s only possible with superhuman strength.
Enter the post-credits scene and Locke reveals he’s done just that himself.

Additionally, it’s been confirmed that Reynolds voiced The Director.
While this could have just been a fill-in before casting an actor for Hobbs and Shaw 2, this definitely adds to the theory that Locke is the head of Eteon.
Meanwhile, The Rock has confirmed Hobbs and Shaw will not feature in Fast and Furious 9.
However, the tenth and final film in the main series of films is released in 2021, so he says there’s every possibility they’ll be back for that.
