Louise Redknapp suffers extremely awkward TV moment: ‘Is he seriously insulting her?’

Louise Redknapp and The One Show hosts Patrick Kielty and Angellica Bell were left open-mouthed in shock during a recent edition of the live BBC show.

It all came about after the Eternal hitmaker was joined on the sofa by comedian Mo Gilligan, as she promoted her latest single.

However, the 44-year-old was accidentally “insulted” by the stand-up star, 31, who misunderstood a question about how many albums she had sold overall.

The mother-of-two has since taken to Twitter to comment on the hilarious moment, clearly seeing the funny side of the “classic” blunder.

“You’ve got loads of fans,” presenter Patrick, 48, had started. “We were trying to work this out, okay, how many albums Mo do you think Louise has sold? How many records?”

“Well I was in Key Stage Three at that time so…” Mo quipped, before suggesting: “I think about six?”

“Six!” the host exclaimed, as Louise questioned what he’d said and the former attempted to clarify his question: “No, records, records.”

“Oh records!” the funny man stated, appearing to now know what he was being asked.

But, he went on: “Most probably, because I guess at that time, albums were like a thing so I reckon… I’d say about 100. 100 songs? Maybe 20 per album.”

As silence fell on the studio seemingly in shock, Angellica, 43, urged: “Just tell him, just tell him.”

“15 million records sold,” Patrick confirmed, as the penny dropped for Mo as to what he had been asked about.

“Oh SOLD!” he shouted, through laughter. “I thought you meant made! Oh my gosh! I am so sorry, you know.

“Oh my gosh. Think I’d really be sitting here after 100 songs. I thought how many songs that she’d made.”

Patrick joked: “Is he seriously insulting the woman that she’s sold 20 records,” as he responded: “Everybody in the room was looking at me like, what is wrong with this guy. I know he’s got hay fever but… “

The One Show later shared the clip on their official Twitter account, with the caption: “Note to self, never ask @mothecomedian how many records @LouiseRedknapp has sold ever again! @angellicabell and @PatricKielty’s reaction was priceless!”

Thankfully the whole situation was laughed off, and Louise shared it on her own page with four crying with laughter emojis.

A number of viewers posted on the micro-blogging site commenting, with one user branding it a “classic TV moment”.

A second tweeted: “Mo giving (lovely) Louise some serious s**t there! Lol. He was so embarrassed when he realised what they meant. Bless him. X.”(sic)

Another posted: “I wasn’t sure if he was insulting you or just joking. Turns out he misunderstood the question. DOH!”

The One Show continues Monday at 7pm on BBC One.
