Eurostar services are in the midst of summer chaos after a train was evacuated following a power fault, with delays spanning this evening and tomorrow’s timetable. The 10.56am train from Brussels to London encountered a fault while en route, with passengers told to disembark while it was rectified. Comedienne Katie Brand was one of those affected, and took to Twitter to document the turmoil. She posted a worrying message which read: “So @Eurostar I am one of hundreds of people on the fire-struck 10.56 train Brussels to London.
“We are being held in a tunnel. Babies are ill, people are fainting.
“We were promised a rescue train. It’s been two hours. Where is it?
“This is very unsafe. Legal action ahead.”
She later gave one of her followers an extra update, as she wrote: “The entire train has been given 100 per cent refund no questions asked because it was all very bad.”

The delays have caused disruption through the day and evening, with services tonight delayed to their destination in Paris by around 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, Eurostar have forecast further delays disrupting Thursday’s services in yet more woe for passengers.
In a statement posted on its website, it stated: “Due to a problem with the overhead power supply near Halle (Belgium), our traffic from/to Belgium is highly disrupted today.
“As a consequence, some trains are cancelled.
“We are expecting services tomorrow to also be delayed.”
For those worried about the journeys, it added: “Exchange your ticket for free, for a later date, subject to availability.
“If you choose to travel, please proceed to ticket gates at the time indicated on your ticket as normal.”
Meanwhile, those planning to take the train service to destinations in France have been issued with a safety warning by the FCO.
Express.co.uk reported how the official advice was updated today in light of what it deems “extreme temperatures” forecast for the entirety of the week.
It now states: “Extreme temperatures are forecast across most of France in the week commencing 22 July, with daytime temperatures over 40ºC and overnight temperatures over 20ºC in parts of the country.
“The French authorities have issued advice (in English) on sensible precautions to take.”
This flags warning signs such as muscle cramps, extreme tiredness or sparking incoherently as signals someone is suffering from heatwave-related symptoms.
