Seth Rollins reveals how WrestleMania win over Brock Lesnar changed him before SummerSlam

Rollins won the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35 from Lesnar but wasn’t very optimistic before the encounter and had to inspire himself in order to beat his super heavyweight rival.

UFC legend Lesnar, though, bounced back when he won the Money in the Bank contract last May under controversial circumstances as he added himself late to the annual Men’s Ladder Match.

The Beast was guaranteed a world title shot at any time and place he wished within the space of a year and successfully cashed in at Extreme Rules when Rollins was not fighting fit.

The Beastslayer then became the No1 Contender by winning a Battle Royal on RAW and is now set to challenge The Conqueror at SummerSlam on August 11 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

But Rollins’ WrestleMania triumph has changed him as he now feels a lot more confident going into this match than he did before the Show of Shows.

That is because his victory at Mania convinced him that he has what it takes to overcome the MMA hero and his courage grew even more after all the times he prevented a Money in the Bank cash-in.

The three-time world champion is certain that their fight at the biggest Pay-Per-View event of the summer will be a lot more different than the Showcase of the Immortals.

Rollins told Express Sport: “I have so much more confidence going into the SummerSlam match with Lesnar than I did at WrestleMania.

“I really had to inspire myself into believing that I could get into the ring with Lesnar [and] that I could beat him.

“The fact that I was able to beat him at WrestleMania and take the title, the fact that I was able to send him off multiple times after he ‘won’ the Money in the Bank contract has really put me in a different place mentally.

“Going into this match with him at SummerSlam I feel super prepared, I feel super capable and I think that what you’re going to see at SummerSlam is going to be a lot different than Mania earlier this year.”

Rollins has a lot of history with Lesnar as they fought for the WWE Championship in 2015.

This will be the third time they face off one-on-one as they also fought at Battleground four years ago.

Lesnar won that bout via disqualification after The Undertaker interfered and attacked the six-time world champion.
