Carol Kirkwood: BBC weather star complains ‘the things they make me do’ in backstage video

BBC Breakfast’s weather forecaster Carol Kirkwood, 57, took to Twitter to share a video of her appearing to paddle board in front of a lake.

The video began with a close-up of her appearing out of breath while playing with a paddle board handle.

She then said to the camera: “This paddle boarding is hard work.”

As the camera zoomed out, she laughed as it was revealed she was just pretending to paddle.

Laughing, she added: “The things they make me do.”

BBC Breakfast shared the video to their Twitter page with 292,000 followers.

They wrote: “The Queen of Breakfast TV is very cheeky @carolkirkwood is a joker.”

Carol also shared the clip in view of her 159,000 followers with the caption: “The things @BBCBreakfast make me do!!! [Embarrassed face and crying with laughter emoji] xxx.”

The presenter’s humorous antics prompted many of her fans to comment.

One user wrote: “I love you Carol, willing to give anything a go!!”

A second commented: “Best weather lady ever, you are brilliant Carol.”

“I’m sure you could do it for real and just as gracefully,” a third added.

Last week, Carol Kirkwood hit back at controversy about the way her outfits are purchased.

After presenting a segment at Wimbledon earlier this month, BBC Breakfast shared a picture of the star sporting a white dress.

They commented: “We’ve loved seeing ⁦@carolkirkwood⁩ at ⁦@Wimbledon⁩ 2019. Big thanks to Carol and the brilliant team.”

One Twitter user then tweeted: “Who pays for all the outfits? Could it be the licence payer?”

Carol shut down the Twitter user, writing: “No! I buy ALL my outfits!”

Other Twitter users complimented the weather forecaster, with one writing: “I love that dress.”

“Fabulous lady. Wouldn’t be the same without her,” a second commented.

On the same day, other viewers asked where Carol had purchased one of her dresses from.

She replied: “For those asking, I bought the dress I am wearing today from damsel in a dress.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
