Love Island 2019: Megan Barton-Hanson spills why stars have to 'RE-SAY' things for cameras

Love Island favourite Megan Barton-Hanson, 25, spilled all on how filming works in the famous ITV2 villa, saying things feel “natural” in front of the cameras because they aren’t too intrusive. However, she said there are moments when the crew will ask stars to repeat parts of their conversations. “Filming Celebs Go Dating I’ve really, really noticed the difference,” she told Express.co.uk. “In Love Island, there will be runners and if you’re having a really deep conversation and there’s not enough cameras for you, a runner will come in and be like, ‘Can you just hold that chat for a minute. We haven’t got enough cameras.’

“And then you might have to re-say it,” Megan explained.

Recalling an example of the crew’s role in the pivotal chats between Love Island couples, the model detailed her now famous chat with Wes Nelson, 21, back when he was still coupled up with Laura Anderson, 30, on the show.

The conversation saw Megan take her future boyfriend (now ex-boyfriend) up to the terrace for some privacy, before making her feeling for him clear and even asking him to kiss her.

“They [producers] knew that was gonna happen but they gave me that extra push,” she laughed.

“They can’t force you to say anything but they were like, ‘Go on, he really fancies you. Just do it.’

“They gas you up a little bit before you go and do it,” she added.

“With Celebs Go Dating it’s different because there’s the cameramen there, so it feels more intrusive,” Megan mused.

“With Love Island you don’t forget but it’s more natural.”

Meanwhile, the Love Island alum also said contestants are edited into “characters” on the dating show.

Saying she didn’t view the editing as “malicious”, she explained: “They’ve got a TV show to make and they need different characters.

“I never watched [her series] back because I had such a good time I didn’t want it to be tainted by how it was edited. But my friends said they never showed the geeky side of me and the silly side.
