BREAKING: Congress UNITES against 'racist' Trump tweets – impeachment resolution launched

All Democrats and four Republicans in the second chamber of Congress voted to support the motion.

The President is now facing an impeachment resolution brought by Democratic representative Al Green.

Earlier this week Trump caused outrage by suggesting four hostile Democratic representatives from ethnic minority backgrounds “can leave” the US and return to their countries of origin if they are unhappy with his policies.

The House passed the resolution condemning Trump’s tweets by 240 votes to 187.

Trump’s tweet was widely interpreted as an attack on representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib.

All four women are US citizens and three of the four were born in America, with Ms Omar moving to the country as a child.

They have become vocal critics of Trump’s politics and have been collectively nicknamed ‘The Squad’.
