Neymar reveals Barcelona humiliating PSG is best memory as Nou Camp transfer return eyed

The Brazilian didn’t hold back with his comments about his current club Paris Saint-Germain and it comes as the latest development in the saga of the player seeking a return to Barcelona.

The game in question occurred in March 2017 in the round of 16 of the Champions League.

PSG had won the first leg 4-0 in Paris which left Barcelona requiring a historic performance if they were to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.

The Catalan giants got off to a quick start with Luis Suarez finding the back of the net after just three minutes and went in at half-time 2-0 up thanks to an own goal from left back Layvin Kurzawa.

They added a third shortly after half-time when Neymar fell over Thomas Meunier in the box and Lionel Messi converted the penalty.

Edinson Cavani smashed home a goal for PSG on 61 minutes and with the away goal it looked to much for Barca to now overcome.

However, Neymar scored a free-kick with two minutes left in the game and then converted a penalty in the 91st minute, which left the team requiring one more goal in injury time to seal the win.

And it was the Brazilian who was again involved in the final goal as he set up Roberto, who managed to poke the ball into the back of then net, for his first goal of the season, in the 95th minute.

Barcelona made Champions League history with the victory as they became the first team to overturn a first-leg 4-0 deficit, they won 6-5 on aggregate.

And when Neymar was asked about the best moment in his football career, he recalled that win when they managed to reach the quarter-finals for the 10th successive season.

”The comeback for Barcelona against PSG,” Neymar said.

“What we felt when we scored the sixth goal… I never felt something like this. It was incredible.”

Neymar also recalled what it was like with his Barca team-mates in the locker room at the Nou Camp after that game.

“When we won against PSG with Barcelona, it was completely…we all went crazy afterwards,” he said.

“I believe it was the best possible feeling for all of us.”

Neymar left Barcelona in a record-breaking €222million (£200m) move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, but the 27-year-old has now been heavily linked with a return to the Spanish giants.

PSG sporting director Leonardo recently stated that Neymar can leave the Ligue 1 champions “if there is an offer that suits everyone”, although he added that the cub have “not received any offers” for the player.

Neymar is also facing disciplinary action from PSG after the club deemed he had failed to turn up for the first day of pre-season training.

The player’s father has insisted there was an agreement between the club and his son, for the player to return on July 15 as Neymar had prior commitments, but the club appear to see the situation differently.

“PSG affirms that the player Neymar Jr was not present at the time and place required, without prior authorisation from the club,” PSG said in a statement.

“PSG regrets this situation and will take appropriate action.”
