New Windows 10 feature revealed and it's one of the best Microsoft updates in years

Microsoft is testing a new Windows 10 feature that will transform the users access all of their digital lives.

The update, which has been spotted in a test build of the software, allows Windows 10 fans to go totally password-free.

Once a PC is updated with the latest version of Windows 10, an option becomes available to “Make your device passwordless”.

As soon as this is activated it will switch all Microsoft accounts on that Windows 10 device to use Windows Hello Face, Fingerprint, or PIN only.

That means no more forgetting those endless passwords most people have and should make things far more secure.

Microsoft has confirmed that this upgrade is available to a limited number of Insiders with more users expected to receive the change in the coming weeks.

In a post on its blog the Redmond firm said: “For improved security and a more seamless sign-in experience, you can now enable passwordless sign-in for Microsoft accounts on your Windows 10 device by going to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options, and selecting ‘On’ under ‘Make your device passwordless’.

“Enabling passwordless sign in will switch all Microsoft accounts on your Windows 10 device to modern authentication with Windows Hello Face, Fingerprint, or PIN.”

This isn’t the only piece of good news that Microsoft fans got this week with those in the UK now able to visit a store in London.

The huge retail experience opened late last week with it featuring all of the latest products, accessories and even a help centre.

One exclusive bonus of buying your device from this store is plus the option to have your latest purchases customised at the Surface Design Lab.

All visitors can create their own personalised Surface Type Cover, featuring a range of designs that can be etched directly onto the cover whilst they wait.

If gaming is your passion then there’s a whole area dedicated to the Xbox console with fans able to try out the latest titles or use the esports hub to take part in online competitions.

Microsoft is also boasting that gamers can try out the Thronos Gaming Chair which is the first in Europe.

This device includes three screens which curve around the user with the chair moving and vibrating in sync with what’s happening in the game.

This zone is also kitted out with customised controllers to help those with disabilities enjoy the latest blockbuster titles.

Along with retail and gaming areas Microsoft has also included an Answer Desk which it says will be a one-stop-shop for customers to get technical support, training, repairs and advice from trusted advisors on any Microsoft device or service.

“We are honoured to open the London flagship, Microsoft’s newest front door, in the vibrant Oxford Circus,” said David Porter, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Store.

“It will provide free access to resources and tools for every customer, from Fortune 500 enterprise companies to small businesses to educational institutions to consumers.

“We look forward to providing our UK and European customers, and anyone who visits London, a new way to experience the best of Microsoft from demo to purchase, and with ongoing tech support, trainings and workshops.

“We have some special surprises in store for our London customers and look forward to many years ahead building relationships.”
