Antiques Roadshow CANCELLED: BBC show won’t air tonight – here’s why

Antiques Roadshow host Fiona Bruce, 55, was set to join the team at Newcastle’s Cvici Centre for the next instalment of the BBC programme.

Instead, Countryfile aired its place as the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final overran, with coverage wrapping at 7.30pm.

The tennis match was then followed by the news segment, meaning the pre-planned schedule had to be changed at the last minute.

Although it could have been all shows were pushed back by an hour tonight, the highly anticipated return of the fifth and final season of Poldark meant Antiques Roadshow was removed from the schedule altogether.

The Wimbledon Men’s Final was won by Novac Djokovic, 32, after an incredible four and a half hour feat against Rodger Federer, 37.

Although the match rounded off shortly after 7pm, the speeches and analysis of the dramatic stand off took more time up from the pre-planned schedule.

Fans of Antiques Roadshow weren’t too happy with the show not being shown and took to social media to voice their disappointment.

One posted: “Where is #antiquesroadshow ???? B***** Countyfile. THAT is not Sunday night. Noooooo.”

Another asked: “Are they not showing the #antiquesroadshow this evening? Is it because the Wimbledon final was so long? #MiddleAgedTweet.”

A third opined: “So #countryfile survives the chop for #antiquesroadshow ? B*******.”

Although no announcement has been made about when the show will be rescheduled, it is likely tonight’s episode will be shown next week instead, with future episodes likely to be pushed back by a week.

Last Sunday’s conclusion of the popular BBC programme saw one guest left speechless by the valuation of their diamond broach.

A repeat of the episode recorded at Helmingham Hall in Suffolk saw expert Geoffrey Munn analyse the 220-year-old piece of jewellery.

After the guest revealed the relic had been in her family for several decades , Geoffrey commented: “It’s stunning – a great, great find for me.

“Goodness! The shape of it is definitely Indian, isn’t it? It’s almost a peacock’s father, a Paisley form and set in the centre are three beautiful water white diamonds.”

The expert continued: “The diamonds are set in silver, it’s backed in gold.

“This is European work, but there seems to be a homage, a sort of Indian accent given to the centre and I think that actually underwrites your provenance nicely,” the expert continued.

Geoffrey estimated the broach would be worth a staggering £30,000, to which the guest simply exclaimed: “Help!”

They continued: “Oh dear, oh dear! Well I’ve given it to my daughter, so it’s not mine!”

Making light of the situation, Geoffrey quipped: “Too late she cried!” before adding: “No, well wonderful.”

Antiques Roadshow airs Sundays at 8pm on BBC One.
