Cameron Boyce’s family confirmed the news last night and said he died in his sleep.

A family spokesperson told ABC News: “It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron.

“He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.

“The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.

“We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”

Cameron rose to fame at the age of nine and went on to appear in horror film Mirrors as well as mystery-thriller film Eagle Eye.

In 2010, Cameron played the son of Adam Sandler’s character in the comedy film Grown Ups.

The actor, who lived in Los Angeles, went on to be cast in a co-starring role on the Disney Channel comedy series Jessie in the role of Luke Ross.

After that, Cameron played Carlos in Disney film Descendants and reprised the character for the animated shorts Descendants: Wicked World and in the 2017 sequel Descendants 2.

The third instalment, Descendants 3, is set to premiere on Disney Channel in August this year.

Disney has since released a statement following the heartbreaking news of Cameron’s death.
