As Virgin Media confirms price rise for customers, Sky reveals big new TV deal

Virgin Media announced last week that it will be putting up prices later this year.

Customers will see the hike hit their bills in September and October with some contracts going up by as much as £4.50.

Virgin says the average bill increase will add around £3.30 to monthly costs with those affected by the change set to be informed over the coming weeks.

In a statement, Virgin said: “Changing prices is not a decision we take lightly. We invest more than £1billion a year in our network and services to keep giving our customers great value.

“We continue to do more for our customers and lead the way with the fastest broadband speeds – now reaching 500Mbps with gigabit speeds launching soon.

“We are committed to giving our customers an incredible service with unrivalled connectivity, great, high-quality programming and innovative new upgrades – and our customers can expect much more to come.”

This increase to bills won’t be welcomed by consumers but Virgin is following many other suppliers with a hike.

Sky announced its rise earlier in 2019 and some TalkTalk users began paying more for their broadband in June.

Forking out more for these services is never going to go down well but Sky has announced a deal which can reduce your bill.

The satellite TV firm currently has an offer which includes Sky Entertainment and Ultimate On Demand for £25 per month saving £9 off the usual price.

This bundle includes over 300 channels plus access to Netflix and over 500 Sky Box Sets.

You’ll also get a standard Sky Q box which can store 500 hours of TV and record three shows whilst you watch a fourth.

If you want an improved viewing experience you can upgrade to the Sky Q 2TB box which brings Ultra HD content to your living room and can store 1,000 hours of TV plus there’s the option to record more shows at once.

This option comes with a £199 upfront fee compared to a £20 fee for the standard 1TB box.
