Pokemon Sword and Shield fans angered by controversial new discovery

Pokemon Sword and Shield is attracting its fair share of negativity, despite not launching until November.

The upcoming Pokemon sequel was recently given a November 15 release date, exclusively on Nintendo Switch.

The game contains lots of new features and a new generation of Pokemon, not to mention a brand new location loosely based on the United Kingdom.

But despite the new additions, Sword and Shield developer Game Freak has been criticised for not including all past Pokemon in the game.

According to producer Junichi Masuda, support for every Pokemon would have been difficult due to the higher quality animations required for the new release.

However, judging by a new video posted by MysticSong, Pokemon fans have seemingly found a flaw in that argument.

The video seemingly proves that Game Freak is re-using some animations from the 3DS release.

Check out the video below for a break down of the animation issue.

It’s a compelling argument, with the likes of Bunnelby, Machoke, Pikachu and Wingull all seemingly using the same animations.

It’s even argued that the giant Dynamax Pokemon share the same animations as before, only slowed down.

Perhaps Game Freak will be able to improve the animations by the time Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield finally launches.

Nintendo revealed more about some of the new Pokemon during a recent stream, including Legendary Pocket Monsters Zacian and Zamazenta.

The aforementioned Dynamaxing feature was also announced, which transform Pocket Monsters into huge beasts with more powerful special moves.

New starter Pokemon include a chimp called Grookey, a rabbit called Scorbunny and a water lizard known as Sobble.

“The adventure begins in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield when players choose one of three new Pokemon—Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble,” Nintendo previously revealed.

“Grookey, a Grass-type Chimp Pokemon, is mischievous and full of boundless curiosity. Bursting with energy, Scorbunny, a Fire-type Rabbit Pokemon, is always running about. The stealthy Sobble, a Water-type Water Lizard Pokemon, shoots out attacks as it hides itself in water.”
