Kate Middleton is the Duchess of Cambridge, wife of the second-in-line to the British Throne.
As such she takes an important role in diplomatic relations, and she fulfilled this role last week.
Kate welcomed European royals such as Queen Letizia of Spain and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.
On hand to escort the royals to a church service was Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
However, a number of Twitter users claimed Kate was ignoring her relative outside of the service as she spoke to Queen Letizia.
A Twitter account called “RoyalDetective” posted a video making the claim.
They wrote: “The video is even more awful bc Camilla try to speak, Kate ignore her (…) and include her in the convo.” (sic)
Others agreed, with one adding: “Uninviting Katie just ignored her.”
“I wouldn’t like to think anyone was rude to The Duchess of Cornwall she is always so friendly & welcoming and deserves the utmost Respect!” another said.
But what did a body language expert make of the exchange? Judi James told Express.co.uk that Kate seems engrossed in her conversation, but that she and Letizia do acknowledge the older royal.
She said: “I’m sure we’ve all experienced that moment when you try to break into a new group at a social function only to find yourself slightly frozen out because they’re having such a very good time chatting together.
“Maybe they didn’t spot you or maybe they were just getting along too well together to allow newcomers to interrupt their stories, and this does look for all the world like what is happening to Camilla here as she tries to break into a very animated chat between Kate and Letizia.”
The expert claims that Kate and Letizia are enjoying a good chat in the video.
“Kate especially appears to be enjoying explaining something to Letizia, who in return looks totally engrossed,” Judi said.
“Kate’s active gesticulation defines her enthusiasm for the topic and the way Letizia mimics one of her hand gestures hints at a moment of genuine rapport.”
Describing the moment Camilla turns to the royal women, she said: “It seems Camilla’s conversation behind them has come to an end and she slowly turns to break into a new group.
“Her trait of mirroring the two women’s body language is a famous networking trick as it helps with integration even if you don’t yet know what they are talking about.
“She nods and smiles, watching Letizia first before turning to Kate. Kate glances at Camilla quickly but appears so keen to get back to her story that she soon turns her attention back to Letizia.
“Queen Letizia does turn to include Camilla in the conversation but the two younger women soon appear to fall back into their chat as Camilla looks away and turns to lead them back inside.”
Kate Middleton’s body language at Ascot 2019 had some questioning if she or another royal is pregnant.
“If Kate pregnant? Hand in belly!!! I hope she is,” one Twitter user wrote (sic).
Another said: “Maybe Kate’s pregnant?”
However, another was sceptical: “Everyone always thinks Kate’s pregnant when she touches her stomach but guys…she literally always does that.”
Pregnant women do sometimes rest their hands on their stomachs, however, expert body language analyst told Express.co.uk she had a different view.
