Dark season two premieres on Netflix today (Friday, June 21) after nearly two years of waiting. There are eight episodes in the new series which are available to stream and download in one go. The German sci-fi thriller series follows four families living in the town of Winden where children start disappearing.

Where is Dark season 2 set?
Dark season two will once again be set in the fictional German town of Winden in 2020.
The first series ended with Jonas (played by Louis Hoffman) travelling to the post-apocalyptic town of Winden in the year 2052.
Netflix has already released two images of his character trying to make his way through the abandoned town.

WHO IS IN THE CAST OF DARK SEASON 2?
In the trailer for the new series, which you can watch above, a timeline appears with the years 195(YEAR), 1986 and 2019, which suggests 1921, 2020 and 2052 are not the only years the four families will be visiting.
The series will also pick up from the huge cliffhanger of season one when Michael (Sebastian Rudolph) took his own life.
Viewers will be hoping to hear an explanation as to why he ended his life and also why he was always covered in black ink when Jonas visited him.
For the new series of Dark, the show creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese decided to begin the new series with a clean slate.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter Odar said: “Let’s pretend no one watched the show and what story do we want to tell? And then we went there and now never really think of the audience.“

Where is Dark season 2 filmed?
Dark season two was filmed mostly in Berlin, Germany and its surrounding areas.
Other locations include Saarmund, Tremsdorf, Potsdam-Mittelmark in Brandenburg, Germany.
Filming for season two began in June last year and wrapped up after 92 days of shooting.
Dark season two went straight into editing and was completed by April 2019.

Louis Hofmann will return to play the role of Jonas, who in this series will be trying to make his way back to the present day.
Oliver Masucci will be back as Ulrich Nielsen who is stuck in the 1950s and Karoline Eichhorn will reprise her role as Charlotte Doppler.
Jördis Triebel is back as Katharina Nielsen and Maja Schone as Hannah Kahnwald.
Joining the cast of Dark is Inglorious Basterds star Sylvester Groth alongside The Last Summer of The Rich actress Winifred Glatzeder and In July star Sandra Borgmann.
Dark drops on Netflix today, Friday, June 21.
