Holly Willoughby: Phillip Schofield speechless as This Morning host has close call on air

Holly Willoughby, 38, and Phillip Schofield, 57, couldn’t hold it together on air yesterday after she appeared to almost swear during a link. In a video, which was shared with This Morning’s 1.8 million followers on the show’s Twitter page, the presenter could be seen narrowly avoiding letting slip a rude word. “Holly’s close to making a hilarious blunder, but what on earth is she talking about?” the tweet read. In the clip, Holly looked down the lens as she announced: “See? We don’t just throw this… stuff together.”

Phillip’s jaw dropped at the crucial moment when it seemed Holly might curse and he let out a shocked: “Oooohh…

“Hahaha…. no!” he exclaimed.

Phil slapped his thigh as he fell about laughing while Holly also descended into giggles at her near blunder.

Fans took to the comments section on Twitter to share their reactions to the entertaining video.

“Nice catch Holly,” one said, while another added: “Actually love how much fun @hollywills and @Schofe have working!

“You can’t not smile.”

It’s not the first time the duo have ended up in hysterics after a close call with rude words.

Earlier this month, Holly Willoughby apologised after Phillip Schofield admitted he nearly “resigned’ live on air when he struggled to read his line properly.

Introducing Yorkshire shepherdess Alison O’Neil, he read slowly and precisely from the autocue: “She’s taken a break from tending her flocks to cook us a summer treat.”

Holly began laughing at her presenting partner’s close shave, struggling to compose herself.

Apologising, she succumbed to her giggles, covering her face with her hands while Phillip also descended into laughter.

“Sorry, sorry sorry,” she exclaimed, adding: “It was ‘flock’ and ‘cook’ so close together!”

“That’s about as dangerous as it’s got recently,” Phillip chipped in, noting the tongue-twister.

“It could’ve been anything!

“There comes a moment ever so often — because it’s fast-moving show, things change, things are written that you maybe haven’t seen before,” he explained, still laughing.

“Suddenly, something will appear in front of you that you’ve not seen before, and when it’s ‘flock’ and ‘cook’ side-by-side, you have to stop for just a second to make sure you don’t resign live on television!”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
