Doctor Sleep release date, cast, plot, trailer: What you MUST know about Stephen King film

Doctor Sleep is a 2013 horror novel by the king of terror himself, Stephen King, and is a sequel to his 1977 novel The Shining. The Shining movie is widely known as a classic epitome of horror and now will have a sequel movie to join the canon. Development on Doctor Sleep began shortly after the novel was published. and will soon hit the cinemas.

He may also lay the ghost of 2010 to rest.”

What is the Doctor Sleep release date?

Fittingly, Doctor Sleep is out in UK cinemas on October 31, 2019 – Halloween.

Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) wrote a script but Warner Bros only took action when the film adaptation of another King classic, It, was a box office success in 2017.

Mike Flanagan, the man behind Netflix’s horror hit The Haunting of Hill House, was then hired to rewrite the script and direct the film.

The official plot synopsis reads: “Doctor Sleep continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.

“Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace.

“But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.”

Ewan McGregor stars as the grown-up Dan Torrance, a man with psychic powers known as the shining.

Rebecca Ferguson (Mission Impossible: Fallout) plays Rose the Hat, head of the True Knot, a cult that feeds on children with psychic powers.

Newcomer Kyliegh Curran plays Abra Stone, another child with the shining powers.

Carl Lumbly (Alias) plays Dick Hallorann, the former cook from the Overlook Hotel who also has the shining.

Zahn McClarnon (Fargo) plays Rose the Hat’s right-hand man Crow Daddy.

Emily Alyn Lind (Revenge) plays Snakebite Andi, a member of the True Knot cult.

Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek) plays Dr John Dalton, the Stone family’s doctor.

Alex Essoe plays Wendy Torrance, Danny’s mother who was originally played by Shelley Duvall in The Shining film.

Cliff Curtis (Fear The Walking Dead), Jacob Tremblay (Room) Zackary Momoh (Seven Seconds), and Jocelin Donahue (Furious 7) all appear in unnamed roles.
