AJ Pritchard, 24, seemed to be slightly jealous of his brother Curtis Pritchard, 23, as he practiced posing for a Love Island style photoshoot with Strictly Come Dancing co-star’s Dianne Buswell, 30, and Joe Sugg, 27. The professional dancer was filmed joking around by an artificial palm tree in Joe’s recent vlog, while addressing his sibling’s stint on the ITV2 show. Joe introduced the clip by explaining: “AJ’s brother is on Love Island, so this is AJ’s version.” The camera then focused on the ballroom and latin expert who was clutching a coconut backstage during the Strictly tour.
AJ quipped in reference to his taller brother: “I’m the little coconut, he’s the big one.”
In response, the YouTuber took the opportunity to reassure an envious AJ: “Who needs Love Island? That’s perfect, that’s basically the same thing”, while pointing to the fake palm tree.
Getting wrapped up in the spirit of the programme, AJ made a love heart shape with his hands and posed up a storm for the camera.
Dianne and Joe then suggested to the Strictly favourite: “Next year, next year’s Love Island”, while singing the programme’s signature theme tune.
The hilarious duo then handed AJ a phone and excitedly exclaimed: “You’ve got a text!”
Unfortunately, the dancer’s Love Island recreation appeared to make him feel like he was missing out on the full villa experience, as he pulled a sad face and said: “I’m going home.”
However, Joe was determined to turn his pal’s frown upside down as he did an impression of the voice of Love Island Iain Stirling, 31.
Putting on a Scottish accent, the Strictly finalist joked: “It’s a text from his brother saying ‘I wish you were here!’”
Last week, AJ spoke out about his brother’s blossoming relationship with 27-year-old Islander Amy Hart on Twitter after they shared a kiss and cuddle in bed on the show.
The matter was brought to the star’s attention when Strictly choreographer Neil Jones, 37, teased him about his brother’s intimate display.
Neil addressed AJ in view of his 57,000 followers as he wrote: “@Aj11Ace how does it feel to watch your baby brother on TV in a bed? #LoveIsland.”
Fortunately, the AJ saw the funny side of the potentially awkward moment as he replied: “XX Hilarious”, alongside two crying laughing emojis.
AJ recently showed his support for Curtis during an interview on ITV’s Lorraine.
He gushed: “I think the best way to explain my brother is that he’s infectious and everybody falls in love with him.
“As soon as you watch the first episode, if he’s anything like the brother I see off camera, it’s going to be an entertaining show.
“I can’t wait to see it on camera.”
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
