Emmerdale fans might be surprised to know that Jai Sharma (played by Chris Bisson) and stepmother Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) share a huge soap past.
The link was revealed in a recent Twitter post, and it turns out that the actors have played family members before – but on fellow northern soap Coronation Street.
In the village, Manpreet had quite a rocky start when she revealed as having serious money problems.
She was then accused of only marrying Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) for his assets, and Jai was instantly suspicious.
Despite their whirlwind romance, Manpreet managed to convince Rishi’s son Jai she genuinely loved him, and the trio have gradually managed to forge a family dynamic.
But this isn’t the first time the actors have played members of the same family, with the pair playing siblings in Weatherfield.
Nita Desai and brother Vikram Desai were on the soap over two decades ago, and were the cousins of existing character Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin).
Plenty of viewers hadn’t spotted the link until the cobbles’ account decided to enlighten Emmerdale fans.
Coronation Street decided to share a throwback picture of the pair on Twitter, and the image prompted a huge response.
The snap came following the news Dev’s uncle Ravi was terminally ill, who used to be on the ITV soap, had died.
After Dev learned his uncle, the father of Nita Desai and Vikram Desai, was dying, the soap took the opportunity to unveil the image.
They shared next to the photo: “Who remembers Dev’s uncle Ravi?
“Here he is with Vikram and Nita outside the corner shop!”
Viewers were bowled over by the unexpected news, and flocked to Twitter to comment.
“Oh look it’s Jai from Emmerdale… and Jai’s dad’s girlfriend lol,” one said.
Another tweeted: “They look suspiciously like Jai and Manpreet from @emmerdale.”
A third said: “So Jai and Manpreet have a past,” as a fourth added: “OMG @ChrisBisson and @SarkerRebecca!”
While a fourth posted: Wow didn’t know they’d been in Corrie together!”
