Apple's iOS 13 gets the one feature WhatsApp fans have been desperate for

Apple has just announced its all-new iOS 13 operating system which will bring a swathe of new features to the popular iPhone.

This blockbuster upgrade should arrive in September and will offer improvements to a number of Apple’s apps as well as speeding things up and making things more secure.

A new keyboard upgrade called QuickPath is also coming which brings easy one-hand typing to via the option to swipe through the letters of a word

However, perhaps one of the most exciting new additions is the inclusion of a Dark Mode in iOS 13.

This feature has been available for a while on the Mac platform but is the first time the US technology firm has added it to their mobile devices.

Apple says that the new dark colour scheme will work system-wide and across all native apps including Messages, Photos and Mail.

This mode should help to enhance the overall viewing experience, especially in low-light environments.

Speaking about the change, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, said: “We’re excited for customers to experience what’s coming to iPhone this fall and can’t wait for them to see how great everything looks in Dark Mode.”

Apple has confirmed that it will open this new feature to external developers and that might mean we finally get more news about WhatsApp’s plans.

The Facebook-owned app has been rumoured to be developing this feature for a while with fans desperately waiting for news on an official release date.

Although nothing has yet materialised from WhatsApp, there’s been a number of screenshots posted online claiming to show how this update will look and now there’s another leak which may offer fans their best look yet at what is to come.

WAbetainfo, who has a very good track record of getting things right, recently released some screenshots of the famous WhatsApp UI with a darker colour.

The app can clearly be seen with a black background and white type.

However, in a surprise new twist, WAbetainfo is claiming this new option will be called Night Mode and not Dark Mode.

There’s no official confirmation if this is true but hopefully, there will be more news soon from Facebook about an official launch.

Apple has also not revealed when it will release iOS 13 but, if they follow their usual launch cycle, expect a release to come soon after the new iPhone launches in September.
