Call of Duty Mobile UPDATE: Great news for iPhone users ahead of release date

In a new update today, it was revealed that iPhone users would be able to use Xbox One and PS4 controllers while playing games on iOS 13, a massive boost for Call of Duty Mobile before release.

Call of Duty Mobile could be the next major game launching on the iOS and Android platforms and today saw another big update for fans.

While Call of Duty Mobile is only currently available in certain regions in beta form, it appears that new controller support could be ready in 2019.

This was all revealed during Apple’s WWDC 2019 keynote, which was packed with news regarding iPhones and other iOS devices.

Official PS4 and Xbox One controller support was first announced for the Apple TV, before being revealed as available across the iOS 13 platforms.

A post from the official PlayStation Twitter account reads: “Update from today’s WWDC: official DualShock 4 support will be coming to iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS this fall. We’ll keep you posted!

And another from Xbox’s Larry Hryb, adds: “Apple announced at WWDC today that Xbox Controllers with Bluetooth will be supported on the next versions of tvOS and iOS.

“Thrilled to bring the award-winning controller to more gamers later this year.”

The official iOS 13 preview page has also been updated to include the news that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One game controllers will work with iPhones.

The new iOS 13 update is expected to arrive later this year, around Autumn time, meaning Call of Duty Mobile will have probably already been released in Europe.

COD Mobile pre-register options are live, meaning players can make sure they are among the first to experience the new shooter in the UK.

Activision has not provided a fixed date for when the larger COD beta will begin but have announced that public testing is scheduled for this summer.

This suggests that Call of Duty Mobile will be launching this year but will be done in waves, rather than en masse.

This will start with those who pre-register for early access being picked for testing on Android and iOS.

Here’s more from Activision, who confirm: “Over the coming months we will be releasing pre-launch Betas for fans who pre-register to continue optimising the experience and fine-tuning the game.

“Pre-registration is now available on Google Play and on this site for a chance to be included in these groups.

“Once we have publicly launched the game, it will be free to download on Google Play and the iOS App Store.”

It has also been confirmed that COD Mobile will boast fan favourite modes like Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, Free-for-All, with Battle Royale also hinted at.

Iconic Call of Duty locations and maps will be included, with the likes of Nuketown, Crash, and Hijacked already confirmed.

Footage is still being released for the new Call of Duty Mobile, which is being developed with help from Tencent.
