Jack P Shepherd: Corrie’s David Platt left red-faced amid ‘trim down south’ remark

Jack P Shepherd, 31, appeared on screen via video link alongside his Coronation Street co-star Julia Goulding, 34, who plays Shona Ramsey on the ITV soap last week. This Morning viewers were seemingly left stunned after host Phillip Schofield, 57, made a cheeky jibe at the soap star. As the TV star was shown on-screen, studio guest Sharon Marshall asked: “Is that a trim up North do you’ve got there?” He replied: “It’s all the perks of having your own barbers.”

Phillip then asked: “Is there a trim down south?”

Jack chuckled: “There is a trim down south yeah. I’ll get you the number.”

Viewers at home took to Twitter to comment on the This Morning’s cheeky comment, as one person said: “Well that was shocking @thismorning @Schofe asking Jack P Shepard about a trim down south!”

Another person wrote: “Did @Schofe @thismorning really say that! Trim down south #ThisMorning.”

Meanwhile, the drama continues to unfold on the Cobbles see the Platt family head off to a holiday park together, but tensions rise when David’s barber shop trainee Natalie Watkins (Cassie Bradley) makes an unexpected appearance.

Natalie has some worrying news to share with David and his brother Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), after months of secrecy over their cash con.

When David’s fiancée Shona Ramsey spots that Natalie has gatecrashed the holiday it appears the engagement is off.

Speaking about his relationship drama on the soap, Jack told Digital Spy his character doesn’t think he’s doing “anything wrong”.

He told the publication: “David is not attracted to Natalie physically. She’s not his type at all. They get on, but really he’s only keeping her keen and on side because Nick has told him to.

“David needs to keep Natalie happy so that she doesn’t run her mouth off about the secret she’s keeping for Nick and David.”

He continued: “I don’t think he realises that he’s putting his relationship on the line.

“David doesn’t think he’s doing anything wrong in his eyes, he’s just pretending. It’s like a white lie – if Shona doesn’t know it won’t hurt her, and he thinks he can handle it.”

His character has to keep Natalie on his good side because she is aware that he and his brother Nick Tisley (Ben Price) are harbouring the secret the Underworld boss fleeced his grandmother, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls).

Viewers will get to see the truth unfold during this week’s episodes.

Coronation Street continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
