Carol Kirkwood: BBC Breakfast weather favourite branded ‘best in show’ by Bill Turnbull

Bill Turnbull, 63, quit his role on BBC Breakfast three years ago, where he appeared alongside weather presenter, Carol Kirkwood.

But it appears the two are still close friends as they spent time with each other at the Chelsea Flower Show 2019 last week.

Bill, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017, uploaded a photo of himself posing with Carol to his Twitter, with the two of them beaming to the camera.

The BBC star was dressed in a smart white shirt, teamed with a black blazer at the event while Carol stunned in a form-fitting red dress.

“Just found Best in Show #ChelseaFlowerShow2019,” Bill captioned the photo.

Carol replied: “So good to see you Billy xxx.”

“Pleasure was all mine xx,” Bill responded.

BBC Breakfast star Louise Minchin complimented them both and said: “Ahh that’s lovely.”

One fan posted: “Loved your friendship on breakfast.”

Another praised: “Glad to see you smiling Bill. Hope you’re doing well.”

Ahead of his appearance at The Chelsea Flower Show, Bill opened up about his prostate cancer battle and revealed he had finished his chemotherapy.

Speaking about life after chemotherapy, the presenter told The Mirror: “My hair has grown back and I’m letting my hair grow long just to celebrate. I know I looked awful last year.”

Reflecting on a picture he saw of himself last year, he added: “I saw pictures of myself and I was, ‘Oh Lord, that was just ghastly’. I was in the middle of the treatment.”

Despite saying he now “feels fantastic,” the presenter said he had been getting side effects from his hormone treatment.

“I get hot flushes, menopause symptoms,” he spilled. Mine won’t last for a bit, my symptoms will go on forever. So that’s a lot of fun.”

Meanwhile, Carol appeared on BBC Breakfast in a news story last week as she addressed fake adverts which featured her face in it.

The meteorologist called out the “professional scum” who have been including her in adverts such as diet pills and fake news articles saying she has left her job at the BBC.

“When I read what they were saying, I was horrified,” she said.

“It made me feel angry because my name is attached to it, I have nothing to do with this whatsoever.”

BBC Breakfast airs everyday on BBC One at 6am.
