Mel B’s sudden blindness addressed by Spice Girls co-star Emma Bunton ahead of tour launch

Mel B spoke out about her the terrifying health scare for the first time two days ago, sharing a picture of herself wearing a bandage across her face. And now Emma Bunton has revealed how she is doing, as the group prepare for the first night of the Spice Girls tour in Dublin this evening. The Baby Spice hitmaker, 43, said her co-star was “really good” despite her eye problems. Her Heart Breakfast co-star Jamie Theakston had at first asked: “How’s Mel B getting on, I heard she’s hurt her eye, is that right?”

“Oh she’s really good,” Emma replied. “She’s had a little thing with her eye for a while but she’s great.”

Before leaving listeners in no doubt she would struggle on tour: “She’s all fine. Yeah. All good.”

Jamie went on: “That’s not going to cause any problems – you’re not going to bump in to each other are you on stage?”

“I hope not,” she said, before quipping: “Well we do that anyway so I think she’ll be fine.”

Mel has been vocal on Instagram ever since she revealed the “real truth” behind the blindness reports.

She previously stated: “Me and @melaniecmusic have arrived just now at the airport in proper ‘spice girl sprit’.

“I even had a sleep over at Sporty’s last night yipppee we are soooo on time it’s killing me.”(sic)

Mel also posted: “Me baby spice in rehearsals the other day having a moment together singing viva forever love you @emmaleebunton let’s get this tour going.”

It comes just days after she thanked her fans for the “lovely support and messages” in regards to her sight.

She said: “I had an awful experience last week when I went blind in my right eye and my left eye went blurry.

“… I was NOT ok and this has NEVER EVER happened to me before, so who ever is selling this story ‘a close reliable source’ is full of BS and needs to get there silly facts right big time.”(sic)

Mel said he had been in “a lot of pain” and “very scared”, but had had great treatment at London’s Moorfields Hospital.

The star had severe iritis in her right eye and uveitis in her left, and a full recovery could take months.

She added: “Also I’m being so well looked after by Team Spice. Special thanks to our paramedics too!

“I’m still dealing with it and will be for the next 3/4 months to fully get it under control but I’m no longer worried that my condition will get worse. My only problem now is I have to find a very cool Scary eye patch.”

Tune in to Heart Breakfast, weekdays from 6am.
