Anne Hegerty: The Chase star's 'outrageous' messages as pal makes 'dirty' revelation

Anne Hegerty, 60, appeared in ITV show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year, and now her co-star Emily Atack, 29, has spilled details on The Chase regular. Speaking candidly to the Sunday Mirror magazine, the Inbetweeners actress admitted she is still in contact with her jungle castmates and it is in fact Anne who sends the most “outrageous” messages in their WhatsApp group chat. She told the publication: “I see them all the time. We’re very close still. We’ve got a WhatsApp group, it’s popping off right now. “Anne is the one who sends the most outrageous messages.”

Emily added: “She’s got a dirty sense of humour, she’s hilarious.”

The pair formed a friendship whilst appearing Down Under in the Australian jungle for the popular series, I’m A Celebrity.

The Governess star and Emily lost out to football pundit Harry Redknapp, who was crowned the winner of the show.

The British actress did not divulge exactly what the messages contained but it is a far cry from her staunch demeanour on the quizzing programme.

Meanwhile, Anne recently came to her ITV co-star Jenny Ryan’s defence after The Vixen “riled up” a viewer.

In view of her 46,000 Twitter followers Jenny shared a tweet from a viewer, which has subsequently been deleted.

She captioned the post: “I’ve riled up some bots today, for some reason.”

Following the quizzer’s admission, Anne stepped in to support her co-star while responding to a question from a person at home.

The fan’s tweet read: “Wow, Jenny, how do you put up with this nastiness?”

Anne took the opportunity to respond, writing: “Possibly because nobody feels very threatened by schoolgirls with no friends?”

The epic comeback certainly caught people’s attention with many taking the opportunity to show their support.

One replied to Anne: “Even in your tweets I can hear your voice, these trolls/bots haven’t got two brain cells to rub together so they’re no threat.”

Another added: “It’s pathetic that someone has tweeted this to Jenny, people can be horrible sometimes.”

A third admirer wrote: “Brains and beauty are obviously a threat to trolls #thechase #winner #ignorenegativity.”

Even The Vixen responded to Anne’s tweet, saying: “Can’t fault that construction.”

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
