Man Utd transfer target reveals summer stance after Romelu Lukaku replacement identified

The striker has spoken out on speculation linking him with a summer switch to Old Trafford.

Dembele has fired home 15 goals in Ligue 1 this season where he continues to develop his reputation as a prolific goalscorer.

According to The Sun, Manchester United were eyeing the 22-year-old as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who continues to flirt with a move to Serie A.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to bring down the average age of the squad while signing players who will remain at the club for the foreseeable future.

The Norwegian is keen to move away from the post-Sir Alex Ferguson transfer strategy which has seen them spend masses on marquee signing which just haven’t worked out for them.

When asked about being linked to Manchester United, Dembele refused to rule out a move despite expressing that he is happy with Lyon.

He said: “I signed for five years with Lyon and I’m happy there but we’ll see what happens.

“I’m happy to stay with Lyon next season but we’ll see.”

Solskjaer has made it clear that he will only sign players who fit the criteria that match the traditions of the club.

“You have to have a certain kind of attitude about you to make you a Manchester United player,” Solskjaer told United’s official app.

“You have got to have the qualities and our fans want to see exciting players.

“Of course we want to get up from our seats. We want to see defenders who defend like they’re doing it for their lives, that’s the most important thing.

“We’ve tried to educate our players and our kids to be proper people. In my view, the best players have always been the best people.

“It’s always been in our culture. You have to have that work ethic and we’re scouting the market, trying to find the right ones.”

Having won ten of his first 11 matches at the helm, Solskjaer’s side endured a major dip at the end of the season which saw them finish sixth, missing out on Champions League football.

But now he will be relishing the chance of a fresh start where he can rebuild the squad and give fans something to get excited about again.
