Emilia Clarke, 32, appeared to be overcome with emotion when she wrote a lengthy tribute dedicated to Game of Thrones in view of her 23 million followers. The British actress posted a gallery of behind-the-scenes photos with her fellow cast members alongside a poignant caption in honour of the epic finale and conclusion of season eight. She wrote: “Finding the words to write this post has left me overwhelmed with how much I want to say but how small words feel in comparison to what this show and Dany have meant to me.” Referencing her character Daenerys Targaryen, she added: “The mother of dragons chapter has taken up the whole of my adult life. This woman has taken up the whole of my heart.
“I’ve sweated in the blaze of dragon fire, shed many tears at those who left our family early, and wrung my brain dry trying to do Khaleesi and the masterful words, actions (and names) I was given, justice.”
The star then took the opportunity to remember her dad, who passed away back in 2016, adding: “Game of Thrones has shaped me as a woman, as an actor and as a human being. I just wish my darling dad was here now to see how far we’ve flown.”
Finally, Emilia addressed loyal viewers of the HBO drama as she penned a sweet dedication to her fans.
She concluded: “But to you, dear kind magical fans, I owe you so much thanks, for your steady gaze at what we’ve made and what I’ve done with a character that was already in the hearts of many before I slipped on the platinum wig of dreams.
“Without you there is no us. And now our watch has ended. @gameofthrones @hbo #love #motherofdragonsoverandout.”
Many of Emilia’s fans took to the comments section of her post to praise the actress for her work on the series.
One wrote: “We will never forget you and all GoT cast. Thanks for making our adulthood awesome Dracarys.”
A second added: “Beautiful words Emilia. We (fans) want to say thanks for the last 8 wonderful years that you made our Sundays much better. We love you, guys!”
A third expressed their apprehension for the finale, replying: “I’m not prepared for this.”

Earlier this week, Emilia reunited with her former co-star Rose Leslie, 32, who played Jon Snow’s lover Ygritte until her death in season four.
The glamorous pair spent time together at a charity event to raise funds for The MS Society on Thursday night, just days before the final episode of the show was set to hit TV screens.
Emilia was pictured with her arm around Rose, who tied the knot with fellow Game of Thrones favourite Kit Harrington, 32, last year.
