The incumbent James Bond is currently shooting his fifth and final outing as 007 in Jamaica. But even before filming began, fans have been speculating over who will take up the Licence to Kill next. Now former Bond girl Berry, who starred as Jinx opposite Pierce Brosnan in 2002’s Die Another Day, has said who she wants as the next Bond. The 52-year-old was promoting John Wick Chapter 3 when she was asked.
Berry told Today: “I’d wanna see Hugh Jackman or Idris Elba. I would go for him.”
While the two stars’ names have come up in Bond speculation before, they may be a little too old.
Jackman is 50, while Elba is 46 and Craig’s is about to bow out at 51.
Perhaps Berry mentioned them because earlier in the interview she commented on her John Wick 3 role tackling ageism.
When asked about her time as a Bond girl in Die Another Day, she said: “They were fun times.
“Once you’re in the Bond family, you’re always in the family. They still are my family.”
In John Wick 3, Berry plays Sofia, an assassin and close friend of John Wick.
From the trailers and clips, it looks like Wick will call in a favour on Sofia, as he flees from the $14 million contract on his life.
