The Big Bang Theory season 12: Kaley Cuoco says last episode WON’T solve Penny mystery

The Big Bang Theory fans have been watching the show for 12 seasons, and have seen all sorts of mysteries crop up and get solved.

And the final season has, so far, been answering a number of questions raised by the show over the past 12 years on air.

However one of the biggest mysteries has been to do with Penny (played by Kaley Cuoco).

Since the first episode of the CBS property, Penny has never been given a surname.

And it looks like she won’t in the coming final episodes, either, as revealed by Penny star Kaley.

Speaking to TV Line last week, she confessed: “I kind of love it.”

She went on to add: “So many things are revealed in the last few episodes; you get a lot of satisfying moments.”

But the lack of reveal seems to have been pushed even further by Kaley’s co-star Johnny Galecki – who plays Leonard Hofstadter.

She explained: “But [not revealing her last name], I kind of love.

“I love it too because Johnny [Galecki] always says, ‘It’s Hofstadter! That’s her last name!’”

Although Kaley was in good spirits about her character’s surname, not all of the cast have been handling losing the show too well.

Sheldon Cooper actor Jim Parsons recently revealed one of the hardest things he had to do was the final hug before filming the last scenes.

He told TV Line: “That was tough. That was the first… miniature death.

“Because everything’s a last, suddenly. And that was the first of the evening’s lasts.”

Jim will still be able to be Sheldon for a little while, however, on the spin-off show, Young Sheldon.

And the character is going further than ever, as well, as Jim continued: “I will still speak from [Sheldon]’s vantage point.

“In fact, I’ve already done voiceovers [on Young Sheldon] from ages that are older than I ever got with Sheldon [on The Big Bang Theory].

“He spoke of his children last season, and obviously we haven’t seen that yet.

“I will get to hear where [the writers’] imaginations take that character… that I never would’ve gotten to find out otherwise.”

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS and in the UK on E4.
