Nancy Pelosi launches SCATHING attack on Donald Trump – 'He is sabotaging the public’

The Speaker of the House of Representatives launched an attack on the US President as the Democrats try to increase the pressure on Trump. Ms Pelosi’s comments come after the President insisted that he would fight “all the subpoenas” issued by House Democrats investigating his administration. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ms Pelosi accused Trump of obstructing justice and blocking legitimate inquiries.

Ms Pelosi said: “The President has made clear that he will broadly defy requests for information from Capitol Hill.

“Trump’s obstruction extends to Democrats’ inquiries on issues that address the challenges facing American families from the Administration’s efforts to sabotage Americans’ health care to its cruel family separation policy.”

The Democrat has been a constant critic of the President since she has risen to become the third most powerful politician in the Capitol.

The opposition party has been on the attack following the release of the Mueller report.

Originally, the report found no criminality between the Trump campaign and Russia but since then attorney general William Barr has been accused of misinterpreting the findings of the report.

Ms Pelosi added: “The Trump Administration has denied or delayed the release of information sought by Democratic committees on dozens of occasions, and half a dozen Administration officials have refused to appear before House panels.

“President Trump is taking extraordinary and unprecedented measures to conceal information about himself and to cover-up his Administration’s dangerous and secretive activities from the public.

“This is part of a massive, unprecedented and growing pattern of obstruction.”

In the wake of the recent development from Mr Barr’s conclusions from the report, a deal has been brokered by special counsel Robert Mueller to testify to Congress.

Recently it has emerged Mr Mueller had written to the department of justice to say he did not believe Mr Barr’s four-page summary of his 450-page report correctly captured its context and content.

A Democratic Congressman said that Mr Mueller would appear before Congress this month.

Head of the House of Representatives’ judiciary committee, Jerry Nadler insisted that it was essential that the former FBI director testified.

He said: “They’ve agreed to do subject to setting a date, and we’ll see if they do that, sometime in May.”
