ITV This Morning: ‘Oh sorry!’ Phillip Schofield makes hilarious blunder as he misses cue

Presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are often in stitches on This Morning as the pair have worked together on the ITV magazine programme for an entire decade now.

Today was no different as Phillip made a hilarious blunder when he drifted off into a memory and missed his cue on the show.

The show was depicting the details for This Morning Live and when the cameras returned to the studio, Phillip was simply staring with a grin on his face.

A few seconds passed when Phillip suddenly realised he was supposed to be speaking.

“Oh it’s me… sorry! I was just…”

Descending into giggles, Holly demanded theatrically: “Where did you go? Did you see some more pens? Some straws?”

Turning red in his cheeks, Phillip admitted: “I was thinking about the lady who ran over my foot last year.”

Turning back to the camera, the 57-year-old host explained: “She was in a motorised wheelchair, it’s amazing how heavy they are. Incredible.

“We have selfies done, we have sections where we have selfies done, and she backed up onto my foot.

Recalling the memory, Holly chimed in: “And you were very good, you didn’t say anything until the photo was done!”

“Because I tried…” Phillip went on. I thought I might try and push it, and I tried to push it but there was no budging it.

“Because they’re really heavy and the batteries and all that sort of stuff!”

“Your poor toe,” Holly teased with a smile, but Phillip ploughed on with his story.

“So I just, I smiled, and I thought just wait for her to drive off me,” the presenter continued. “And when she did I had tire tracks across my feet.”

“You didn’t!” Rochelle Humes chimed in in disbelief.

“He did, he did,” Holly then confirmed with a chuckle.

“And that is what I was thinking about!” Phillip finally brought the off-kilter conversation to an end, and got back to the show’s regular programming.

Also during today’s show, Line of Duty star Vicky McClure appeared on the sofa to talk about her latest project with people suffering with dementia.

The presenters fought to get the actress to discuss the twists and turns in the show, but Vicky remained firm and refused to give away any spoilers.

This Morning continues weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
