The Big Bang Theory season 12 spoilers: Sheldon Cooper enemy RETURNS – it may surprise you

This week’s The Big Bang Theory called The Plagiarism Schism suggests an unlikely ally will come to their rescue after they discover some shocking news.

Amy Farrah Fowler (played by Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) are set to find out Dr Pemberton (Sean Astin) copied their work to try and win the prize himself.

Understandably fuming, the couple are set to take him on and expose him in the CBS show, all with the help of Sheldon’s nemesis Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie).

They are set to team up against Pemberton to bring some justice.

The promo shows Dr Pemberton and colleague Dr Campbell (Kal Penn) in a comedic fight scene over dinner with Sheldon and Amy.

All the drama includes a drink being thrown and, much to the audience’s amusement, prompts Sheldon to exclaim: “That was my iced tea!”

The revelation leaves the couple in a dilemma about what to do with the knowledge and whether to expose him or not.

The scenes are set to provide some light-heartedness as fans prepare for an emotional end to the show.

Fans are taking to Twitter to share their feelings before the finale, with one fan saying: “ Can’t believe The Big Bang Theory is ending so soon. My life won’t be the same. Thank you guys for the most amazing years.”

Another added: “It’s hard to believe that the end is really happen… I’m gonna cry, it’s like lost friends of mine.”

One fan went even further: “Please don’t make me think about the end, I want a time machine or to travel to an alternate universe where this can’t happen!”

Penny Hofstadter star Kaley Cuoco has already warned the audience will find the finale scenes too emotional.

She revealed bosses have cut the audience for the final episode because the scenes will be too much to shoot live with an audience.

Meanwhile, fans can look forward to a potential Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Penny Hofstadter spinoff after the Penny star teased on her Instagram “something special” is coming with her on-screen partner.

The photo showed her and Johnny sat in any empty audience overlooking the set and fans started to speculate it meant the two were branching out on their own for a spinoff.

One fan commented: “Begging for a spinoff and/or a reboot.”

Another added: “Please don’t end it, do an off-shoot series.”

Despite still topping viewing figures, the CBS show has seen series-low ratings for 18-49 years olds and season-low viewing figures.

Fans appear to be deserting the show just as they should be gripped waiting to see what happens to their favourite characters.

The hour-long series finale will be released May 16.

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS and in the UK on E4.
