Pointless: 'Goodness me' Fans in TURMOIL as contestant makes unforgivable mistake

Pointless began this evening with Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman taking on another collection of contestants.

However the first round seemed to stump the first contestants, as they instantly answered incorrectly.

The first round was: “James Bond films with an odd number of words.”

And Graham stepped up to the plate confident in his answer as he went on to tell Alexander his choice.

Looking straight at his hosts, he announced: “You Only Live Twice.”

A little shocked by the answer, Alexander slowly said: “Okay Graham… let us put that to the test.

“You Only Live Twice, says Graham…”

Obviously, the answer was incorrect, prompting Alexander to chuckle: “Oh bad luck Graham I’m sorry!

“I think, I could see that dawning on your face as you said it!”

Richard chimed in to joke with Graham’s partner: “Allan, there is a helpline if you need any support!”

Fans of the show were in hysterics at the blunder, leading to one saying: “I was surprised Richard thought it was necessary to explain what an odd number is. Then Graham answers, ‘You. Only. Live. Twice’ #pointless.”

Another joked: “Perhaps he thought ‘the last word is twice so that means it counts as two word’ #pointless.”

One viewer in disbelief simply repeated: “James Bond films with an odd number of words in the title. Contestant: ‘You Only Live Twice.’ #pointless.”

“Goodness me: You only live twice #pointless #oddnumber,” finished another.

Earlier this week Alexander was forced to step in and improvise as a contestant was taking too long to answer.

Alexander began: “We come to our Doctor Who question – what are you going to go for? Or I should say whom are you going to go for?”

But the contestant, Katie, simply couldn’t come up with an answer.

This forced Alexander to turn to Richard and say: “What are you up to later this evening Richard?”

To which Richard responded: “I’m glad you asked, I’m going to be the 14th Doctor. It’s my audition tonight.”

Pointless airs weekdays at 5.15pm on BBC One.
