Lucifer season 4 spoilers: ‘So overwhelming’ Tom Ellis SHOCK revelation about show

Netflix has been very proactive in teasing its first ever season showing Lucifer after Fox cut the show last year.

Now, Lucifer star Tom Ellis has teased the best ever Lucifer moment, and it might not be what fans expect.

Alongside Ella Lopez star Aimee Garcia at FanX, he answered questions from fans about the show.

One audience member asked him what the biggest burn he could give to Fox was after they cut the show?

The Lucifer star replied in typically devilish fashion. He said: “Honestly, we have to be grateful in the first place that Fox played the show. It wouldn’t have existed without Fox’s input.

“I think, weirdly, Fox cancelling the show was the best thing that ever happened to us.”

He then delighted fans by saying: “I think the biggest burn that we can give Fox is this [points at audience]. It’s been so overwhelming. I don’t think we knew and really don’t think Fox knew just how popular the show was.”

Aimee also added: “From one tweet that Tom sent out to the world and for it to catch fire globally and 8.5 million people around the world coming together in a Lucifer family to resurrect [the show] is the biggest burn.”

She then dropped a major tease for fans as she revealed: “I think we might get season five and six.”

Netflix has yet to announce further seasons, but if their pattern continues then they could announce it straight away if the show becomes even more of a success on it.

The series was revived after a strong fan campaign to get it reinstated after in was controversially axed by Fox.

The Twitter campaign under #SaveLucifer picked up so much momentum that Netflix felt like it could not turn the opportunity down.

Tom told RadioTimes.com at the time: “The outpouring of love for the show has mirrored how I’ve felt about it. The response has spurred me on to at least go, ‘Ok, well I’m going to go and take part in these conversations.’”

In a recent interview with BriefTake, Maze star Lesley-Ann Brandt revealed the impact Netflix will have on the show.

She said: “I think that the fans are going to die by the finale. [laughs loudly] I mean the humour is there and it gets a lot cheekier and it gets dark at times, more so than we’ve been allowed to being on a network show before.

“But I’m really excited because it was work which I was very proud of and I am excited for our writers for having included it. So I’m excited that they get to finally watch it because you get the full ride of the roller coaster.”

She also revealed the benefits of the schedule: “For ten episodes … they’re not waiting for you to catch up at the beginning, they go back to back to back to back. So it’s like a double-edged sword, right? Like it’s not extended over weeks, but you get slammed for the full season, which is the way that I like to watch shows, to be honest.”

Fans have also been speculating on how the show will change after its move to Netflix with one fan saying: “I’m really interested to know if, with Netflix taking the reins, we might see something even just a little closer to the Lucifer Morningstar from the Sandman comics – the source material.

“While I love the actors and how they play their roles, the show itself is really kind of by-the-numbers formulaic daytime police procedural. The Lucifer from the comics is one of the most powerful characters in the DC Universe!”

Meanwhile, the most recent Netflix promo video has teased what might happen in the ensuing Lucifer and Chloe Decker (Lauren German) romance.

Tom teases fans regarding whether Chloe fell in love with Lucifer: “Well, I think she nearly did, but then she saw my true face. Proof that I am indeed the devil.”

Lucifer season four arrives May 8 on Netflix.
