James Bond 25: Is Jodie Comer in the next movie – or could she be the FIRST female 007?

Some say the Liverpool-born 26-year-old – who appears on The Graham Norton Show tonight – would be a great co-star for Daniel Craig in the as-yet-untitled Bond 25.

Others, meanwhile, reckon she could hold her own as a historic first female iteration of the iconic spy.

Whatever the case, James Bond fans seem enthusiastic about the prospect of her getting involved – as indicated by the bookies’ shortening odds.

Earlier this month, Ladbrokes announced that – if Bond were to be female – Comer would be the frontrunner.

She was given odds of 20/1 of replacing Craig; becoming the actress with the shortest odds.

Emily Blunt, perhaps the female who has been the subject of the most 007 talk, is behind on 33/1.

Meanwhile, Emma Watson, Gillian Anderson, Olivia Coleman, Angelina Jolie and Game of Thrones favourites Emilia Clarke and Maisie Williams followed far behind.

“Bond chiefs might make a huge change when Daniel Craig’s done with the job, and plenty of punters seem to think a female might get the gig next,” a Ladbrokes spokesperson said at the time.

JAMES BOND 25: CAST AND TITLE NEWS IMMINENT?

Comer’s Killing Eve co-star Sandra Oh certainly concurs: she said last year: “Jodie Comer should play the new James Bond.

“She’s badass and she’s hot as s**t.”

Elsewhere, she was simultaneously touted for the female lead in Bond 25, although the writer of Killing Eve called the idea “a step down” for her.

Coral gave her 2/1 chances of landing a role, setting her odds at the start of this month.

For a while now, fans of both Killing Eve and James Bond have been backing her for involvement.

One person tweeted: “If they ever decide to have a female lead in the James bond movie franchise, this is the women [sic] for it. Jodie Comer.”

Another wrote: “So after #killingeve is @jodiecomer now in line for the next #jamesbond? I think so…”

Meanwhile, commenting on the recent speculation, someone else posted: “Jodie comer could play James Bond better than any male actor and that’s a fact she deserves better than to play a Bond girl.”

Whatever happens, Comer can be seen in the second season of Killing Eve – coming soon to the BBC in the UK.

James Bond 25 is out on April 8, 2020.
