Kit Harington, 32, appeared on the Late Night show with Seth Meyers at the weekend where he admitted he was forced to spend £150 on his former Game Of Thrones co-star and wife Rose Leslie’s favourite almond milk after this year’s joke backfired. The actor admitted he started off “strong” but soon his April Fools plan quickly unraveled after he had to splash some cash. Speaking on the NBC show, Kit spilled: “See I started strong. The amount of props at my disposal has diminished. “This year I did pull an April Fools prank while we were out here [United States] and I’m aware this is the most first world April Fools before I tell this story.”
The Game Of Thrones actor continued: “She has a favourite almond milk, she won’t drink any other almond milk, so I just wrote an article about how this company that makes her favourite almond milk was going under because of Brexit.
“Now this backfired, because she immediately rang my PA and got her to bulk order this almond milk with my credit card.”
The British star revealed the prank left him with a dent in his bank account as he had to fork out the money.
He finished: “So I ended up spending 150 quid on almond milk.”
This was not the first time the actor had played a joke on his wife Rosie.
Appearing on the Jonathan Ross Show in 2017, Kit shared a clip of the terrified actress screaming in fear before he displayed an image of their open fridge with an image of his head covered in dirt and blood.
He told the TV host: “My family does April Fools. Her family doesn’t do April Fools. After that, she was in tears.
“And I was there going, ‘April Fools’.”
Kit continued: “It didn’t go down well. She pretty much told me if I did it ever again, that would be it, and I think that’s marriage included.”
The couple, who appeared on the HBO drama together, tied the knot in 2018.
Meanwhile, season eight is being kept tightly under wraps by HBO bosses and Jon too has kept his lips sealed, but not to his wife.
In an interview with KISS Breakfast Radio last month, Kit revealed the actress wouldn’t speak to him after he told her how Game of Thrones ended.
“She wouldn’t talk to me for about three days,” he said. “And she’d asked!”
The star said it was “nice” being a member of a small group, who are privy to the knowledge of how the series finally concludes.
“It’s quite nice walking around — which will only happen for a few months before everyone’s seen it — knowing,” he said.
“I know and no else else does. I know how it wraps up.
“I think it’s going to be ground-breaking,” he teased.
Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 14.
