Joan Collins Twitter: Actress, 85, receives medical attention 'terrifying' fire

The actress, 85, called her husband Percy, 54, her “hero” as she revealed he had “doused” the fire at their home yesterday with their fire extinguisher. Thanking the emergency services, she told her 171,000 Twitter there had been a “terrifying” blaze at her flat which “consumed the entire wall”. Joan Collins expressed her gratitude for the ambulance crew who tended to the pair after the incident. “THANK U from the bottom of my [heart] to the marvelous @LondonFire who attended to the terrifying fire yesterday in our flat,”(sic) she wrote. “#threealarmfire My hero Percy had already doused the flames consuming the entire wall with handheld extinguisher (#donttakethisrisk).

“And thanks also to the @NHSEnglandLDN #nhs #emt #Ambulance crew who took care of our smoke inhalation and comforted me,” Joan continued. “And the wonderful @metpoliceuk who kept the street closed and everyone safe.”

The Dynasty star also added the hashtag: “#grateful.”

A spokesperson for the fire brigade told BBC: “Part of the flat on the first floor of the seven-storey building was damaged by the fire.

“Two people left the property before the brigade arrived.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told the publication two people were treated by the London Ambulance Service but did not require hospital treatment.

They said the fire was deemed non-suspicious.

Express.co.uk has contacted the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police asking for comment.

Elsewhere, earlier this week, Joan cut the ribbon at the Shooting Star Children’s Hospices boutique in Cobham, Surrey.

The glamorous screen legend also donated 300 items from her personal wardrobe to the charity, including a Montblanc handbag worth £300 and an autographed pair of Donald Pliner shoes.

Last month, Joan revealed she had been rushed to hospital in agony after pulling a muscle doing pilates.

“I woke up just screaming in agony in the middle of the night and I was rushed to hospital,” she told Tatler.

“It was worse than childbirth, but it was just a pulled muscle.

“I didn’t let anybody know. Wasn’t trying to be secretive,” she added.

The Dame graced the cover of the magazine in a stunning photoshoot.

One shot showed the Hollywood British actress posing in a sensational white robe with dramatic feather trim.

Oozing classic glamour, her dark hair was coiffed into sleek curls which framed her face, while she finished the look with smokey eye make-up and dark lipstick.

A second saw her glancing coyly down the lens in a showstopping black structural gown with voluminous ‘80s-style shoulders and sleeves.
