David Walliams FEUD: What caused MAJOR RIFT with Walliams and Matt Lucas?

Comedy series Little Britain took the nation by storm in the early 2000s and is considered a national treasure by some. The hit series was written and performed by Matt Lucas and David Walliams. The pair were once as thick as thieves, having first met as teenagers.

But a major rift meant they didn’t work together for seven years.

They’ve only recently patched things up and were snapped in fancy dress together at mutual friend Luke Evans 40th birthday on Saturday.

Why did Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams and Matt Lucas fall out?

Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams and Matt Lucas had been a comedy duo for nearly a decade when they had a spectacular row.

In his book Little Me, Lucas described how the pair clashed in 2005, during live tours of their Little Britain show.

He wrote they were “suddenly hurling obscenities at each other.”

He revealed they were “often at loggerheads” and how rows over trivial things, including what kind of chocolate to have backstage, often escalated.

It was these backstage spats that eventually led the pair to part ways.

Things reached a tipping point during a disagreement over David’s facial hair on the live tour.

This argument apparently ended in a massive fight between the pair.

While David and Matt managed to patch things up temporarily, tensions re-emerged during the Australian leg of the tour in 2007.

After making their second show Come Fly With Me in 2011, their comedy partnership collapsed.

Following the release of his autobiography in 2012, Walliams, 47, told Radio 4: “We’re very different people and probably want different things and had different working methods.

“Well, it’s over for the time being. Whether it’s over forever I don’t know.”

In the years following their separation David has gone on to become a best-selling children’s author and Britain’s Got Talent judge, while Matt joined the cast of Doctor Who and found success in Hollywood.

Fans will be delighted by the cheerful snap of the pair back together at Saturday night’s party.

The photo seems to signal an end to the major rift that kept the friends apart for years.

A source told The Sun: “David and Matt didn’t see eye to eye for a while but this is a clear indication they’re back on good terms.

“It’s like David wanted to end any doubts within their fanbase.”
