If you’re looking to test out the new PSN name change options on your PS4, you should know that there are known risks.
First of all, PS4 name changes are currently the standard, meaning you can’t be making Online ID tweaks on PS3 or PS Vita.
A PS4 system or web browser is required, and older games do not support this, meaning ALL PS3 and PS Vita titles.
It should be noted that any new remaster for the PS4 will not be affected by this problem, just in case you were worried.
But Sony has confirmed that there is a list of PS4 games that won’t take kindly to you switching to a new Online ID.

vCard.red is a free platform for creating a mobile-friendly digital business cards. You can easily create a vCard and generate a QR code for it, allowing others to scan and save your contact details instantly.
The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.
The official disclaimer from Sony confirms: “All PS4 games originally published on or after April 1, 2018, have been developed to support the online ID change feature.
“However, they have not been specifically tested with the online ID change feature and we do not guarantee that they are fully compatible with the feature.
“As such, games published on or after April 1, 2018, are not included in the Games List, unless a game has been reported and an issue confirmed, in which case we will add the game to the Games List.”
This games list is very useful as it reveals all the games with identified issues and those with critical issues.
So it’s worth considering that these games will be affected, before making a decision about making any Online ID tweaks.
Games which have been tested and were found to have one or more of the following known issues fall into the issues identified list.
These problems are not considered critical to the gameplay experience and include thing like:
+ Previous online ID(s) may remain visible to you and other players, or the online ID is no longer visible in some areas in a game title (in-game rankings, leaderboards, etc.).
For some game titles, the online ID will automatically update if you sign out and then sign back into the game or when various gameplay activity is performed after sign-in;
User accounts on PlayStation may be unlinked from game accounts. Linking accounts again may restore the original linkage; and
Certain game settings may be initialized to their default state (audio setting, controller setting, etc.).
+ For some game titles, settings may be recovered if you sign out and then sign back into the game.
The Critical Issues list of PS4 games are the ones that could lose in-game currency, Loss of game progress, or other online and offline issues.
