Chris Evans, 53, was left apologising to listeners after he revealed some huge news about Game of Thrones.

The radio host is only just catching up with the cultural phenomenan and was eager to talk about season seven, before the new season begins on Monday.

Chatting to co-host Vassos Alexander, who hasn’t watched any of the fantasy drama, Chris said: “I like it, i think it’s great. I don’t know the name of the lady with the blonde her, her dragon died.”

Remembering the character’s name, he shouted: “Daenerys [Targaryen]”

“Her dragon died, that’s part of the game,” he went on.

“She can no longer leave but she’s not welcome to stay because no one trusts her.”

He added: “And the little guy hits the bar again and drinks the wine and wants to kill everyone!”

Vassos admitted he was left baffled by Chris’ explanation and said: “I will start at episode one because I understood 10 per cent of that.”

Talking about Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey), Chris continued: The main woman, she’s the M of Game of thrones, the Judi Dench of Game of thrones.”

Whispering, he said: “She’s pregnant, she’s with child.”

Responding to someone muttering in the studio, Chris repeated: “What do you mean don’t give too much away!?

“It’s all on demand, you can watch it!”

Chris later appeared a little apologetic having given some details about the penultimate season away.

He said: “I had no idea it was so important not to mention the things I just mentioned about season seven of Game of Thrones!”

The father-of-five revealed he had been flooded with texts and messages from angry fans who were annoyed with him giving away spoilers.

He read out: “Chris please stop giving us major Game of Thrones spoilers!

“Some of us are watching it for the first time before the new series comes out and you are ruining it for us!”

Chris revealed another listener said they were crying before adding another person’s view: “Gerard in Rochdale said: ‘Chris I’m going to have to turn you off, too many spoilers’.”

“I won’t mention it anymore,” the former BBC radio presenter insisted.

“I’m trying to be part of the Game of Thrones conversation didn’t realise there were rules to it!”

Chris Evans’ Virgin Radio Breakfast Show continues tomorrow at 6.30am.

Game of Thrones season 8 returns April 14 on HBO in the US, and the next day on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
